Why Buy an Existing Salon?
Compared to starting a new location from scratch, your development costs and working capital will be greatly reduced. This means that you won’t have to worry about choosing an untested location.
The Process, from Sale to Start
Potential salon buyers will need to go through the standard Fantastic Sams approval process that includes an application, review of the buyer’s resume, business plan, financial status, review of franchise documents, background check, and, in some cases, interviews with corporate staff.
You can start by buying a single salon, or you may have the option to purchase multiple salons at once.
The cost of each resale salon will be based on the value of the owner’s business. The terms of the sale, including any discounts for buying multiple salons, will be negotiated between you and the previous owner, and Fantastic Sams will issue a transferring agreement. When the transaction is complete, Fantastic Sams will offer you guidance and approval for you to carry the brand name. When you buy an existing Fantastic Sams salon, you will sign a new 10-year license agreement. Franchise fees will be determined by the designated market area (DMA) and franchise disclosure agreement.
The timeframe for each sale is different, depending on how long the approval process takes and the amount of time you and the previous owner take to come to terms on your deal. On average, this can take six weeks to 90 days. Then, you’ll be able to take over your new business!
Managing Your New Employees
If you are considering buying a particular Fantastic Sams salon, and once you are in communication with our development team, we highly recommend asking the existing owner if you can visit the salon and meet the employees. It will help you get a feel for the business, the existing staff, and the type of customers who frequent the location. The hair care industry is a human-driven enterprise that can’t be replaced by technology, so it’s always beneficial to meet the people involved.
While Fantastic Sams does not participate in the management of salon employees, we do offer ongoing support, training, and guidance that will help you with your salon-level operations. Fantastic Sams franchise owners have the option of becoming owner-operators who manage the business on-site, or multi-unit investors who hire managers to help run the business.
